Wikipedia

I am currently at the library doing research for a couple of essays I need to write for my German class. One needs to be related to music, so I was looking up the history of German folk music. I came across the name of Anton Wilhelm von Zuccalmaglio, a Romantic composer who collected a series of German folk tunes (although many think he simply composed them). The Wikipedia page for him isn’t very long. At the bottom of the page, it notes that “This article about a German composer is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it.” In front of this statement is the image seen above. If you click on the image, it tells you that it is the first three notes of Franz Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony. Well played, Wikipedia, well played.

And to tie everything together, Franz Schubert is one of the most notable German composers of the Romantic period (ties in to Zuccalmaglio) and who was influenced by German folk music (probably those published by Zuccalmaglio at the time), which can be seen in his Lieder, which to some people, has become a kind of German folk music.

I wish that could be my essay.
