What’s the Oldest Bar in NYC?

Video journalist Christian Nilsson of the Huffington Post decided to write a story on the oldest bar in New York City. Upon deeper investigation, however, it turns out determining the oldest establishment is not quite as simple as it might seem. In fact, three establishments, McSorley’s Old Ale House in the East Village, Neir’s Hall in Queens, and Fraunces Tavern in Downtown Manhattan could all count, depending on how you look at their stories and the history of New York City.
