Only in Japan: Fruity Eggs

Can’t decide between eggs or fruit for breakfast? Well, stress no more!

Chicken farmers in Japan have developed an egg that tastes like a sour mandarin orange. The yuzutama egg is apparently very popular and is used in desserts.

“When you chew, there’s this invigorating wave of yuzu aroma coupled with a refreshing citrus taste that spreads through your mouth,” a writer from RocketNews24 reports. “I’ve never had an egg like this before.”

Just one farm on the Japanese island of Shikoku creates these unique eggs by feeding the chickens a strict diet of yuzu peels, kale, corn, and sesame seeds. A six-pack costs about $4.
